GK VOLUNTEER HIGHLIGHT
Financial Advisor Bryan Miranda volunteers for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the UCLA Westside Alumni Network. Bryan's mission is to effect meaningful change for the community and charities that he is involved with.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease that causes damage to nerve fibers that allow communication between the brain and spinal cord. Currently, their no known cure. COVID-19 has created urgent and expanding needs within the MS community, so the National Multiple Sclerosis Society has opened a response fund. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society provides resources to facilitate learning about MS, connecting patients with comprehensive care and doctors, conducts ongoing research, and has created a community of support. Bryan Miranda provides financial services to those affected by Multiple Sclerosis and assists them in handling the financial burdens associated with medical treatment.
Continual volunteering with the UCLA Westside Alumni Network allows Bryan to connect with a local community of UCLA Alumni who all benefit and grow with one another through shared experiences. Throughout quarantine, he has been able to continue these relationships through virtual events. Their next online event is "Morning Mixer" happening Friday, July 17th, at 8:00 AM. RSVP here.
As members of a collective community, we all need to do what we can to help out. Bryan reminds us that, "it doesn't matter if it's a donation of time or money, either is going to be helpful for a variety of organizations during these challenging times."
"Everybody is hurting right now. Anything you can do to reach out and help somebody who needs it is a step in the right direction. Get involved, however you can and then gradually move up the ranks to become more of an organizer or somebody to rely on within the organization. Stay reliable. Stay focused on the cause. You don’t know the person on the other end sometimes, but eventually, you will, and it’ll be the most satisfying experience you have."
