Honoring the Life of Rose Greene

By Robert Castillo, ADPA®
Financial Advisor and Founder of the GK LGBT Group

Financial Planner and LGBT rights activist Rose Greene has passed away on July 11th. As a friend and neighbor of ours at Gerber Kawasaki, we would like to express our gratitude for the devotion that Rose had in helping the LGBT community.

She was one of the first financial planners to actively help LGBT people at a time when no one would. Her dedication to serving the financial planning needs of her community stemmed from a lifetime of activism. She was an early-day champion of LGBT rights and served as a member of the LGBTQ Center’s board of directors. She helped in funding the Center’s headquarters in Hollywood and oversaw the creation of AIDS/LifeCycle, an annual bike ride fundraiser from San Francisco to Los Angeles to help provide free HIV/AIDS medical care. She helped convince a reluctant board to put forth $50,000 to launch AIDS/LifeCycle. They ended up raising $1M after that first bike ride in 1994 and have raised more than $280M since.

The Center will be hosting a memorial service for Rose on August 4th at 3 pm at the Village at Ed Gould Plaza in Hollywood.
