Robert Castillo, ADPA®, has been working with Ross Gerber and Danilo Kawasaki, President and Vice President of Gerber Kawasaki Wealth and Investment Management, since 2009. Before joining Gerber Kawasaki, Robert worked as an educator and fundraiser in the non-profit sector for three years. He has been on Gerber Kawasaki's Investment Selection Committee since 2011 and has held the designation of Accredited Domestic Partnership Advisor℠ since 2014.
Robert loves helping his clients face-to-face and takes great pride in servicing them with honesty and integrity. He knows that everyone's economic and life situation is unique and takes that into consideration when designing a plan that aims to provide the best investments for each client. Whether the goal is saving for a home, financing a child's college education, or planning for retirement, Robert takes a holistic approach to one's finances in order to design a financial plan that is customized to their current and long-term needs.
Robert specializes in working with professionals and business owners who work in arts and entertainment, medicine, law, and IT. He is also dedicated to serving his communities by providing services in Spanish to the Latino community and offering unique financial planning strategies to LGBT same-sex couples.
Robert received his BA degree from UCLA with the graduating class of 2008. He lives in Santa Monica and is still heavily involved in the non-profit sector in his free time. He serves as an advisory board member for COLORS LGBT Youth Counseling Center, a local non-profit that provides free therapy to LGBT youth. Robert also volunteers his time providing financial planning tips to the Latino community on Univision news.

Designation training requirements for the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® certification include completion of a CFP-board registered program, or hold one of the following: Certified Public Accountant (CPA); Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC); Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU); Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA); Ph.D. in financial planning, finance, business administration or economics; Doctor of Business Administration; or attorney's license. Following completion of the course requirements, applicants must complete a proctored final certification exam and continuing education of 30 hours every two years.

ADPA® (Accredited Domestic Partnership Advisor) training and designation addresses the unique financial planning needs specific to domestic partners and unmarried, coupled persons including wealth transfers, federal taxation issues, retirement and relationship concerns, medical and end-of-life needs, and qualitative planning considerations.
The ADPA® program is certificate designation aids individuals working in financial services as financial advisors, accountants, attorneys, wealth planners, bank trust officers, or retirement advisors.
Designation training requirements are provide through an online study program offered by College for Financial Planning - a Kaplan Company. ADPA® course and exam are to be completed within 120 days of receiving program access.
