Nico joined Gerber Kawasaki in the spring of 2018 and is an Investment Advisor Representative. After obtaining his Bachelor's degree from UCLA where he majored in History and double minored in Urban Planning and Public Policy, Nico studied winemaking at the University of Burgundy in Dijon, France. He returned to his native southern California to work as an Organic Farmer before consulting for the venerable non-profit organizations Ecology Action and Sustainable Economic Enterprises of Los Angeles. In that capacity, Nico was a member of the management team that successfully delivered Energy Upgrade California, the state's largest direct to consumer Energy Efficiency program and he worked on LAUSDs multi-year Nutrition Education, Obesity Prevention (NEOP) campaign. While working on the NEOP campaign, Nico presented to over 50,000 low-income students attending Title 1 schools across Los Angeles. It was that eye-opening experience that motivated Nico to learn more about providing financial advice for families. He began researching economics and taking finance courses when he discovered his passion for the art & science of financial planning. While reflecting on his life as a recent cancer survivor and a sibling to a special-needs adult, Nico recognized that he could combine his growing passion for finance with his desire to help people. It was then that he saw the career path to pursue. His thirst for solutions and relentless optimism led him to his role as a Financial Advisor.
Nico's career in finance began in 2015 as a Financial Planning Specialist where he developed customized financial plans for individuals, families, and small businesses. He then deepened his expertise in special-needs life insurance and estate planning. Learning the unique needs that clients face and providing advice that is in their best interest is the fiduciary responsibility that Nico is most proud of. Nico specializes in developing and implementing financial planning strategies for clients. He has deep knowledge in providing solutions for those that care for special-needs individuals as well as for clients with environmental, social and governance (ESG) Impact-Investing goals. Nico believes that his financial knowledge and life-long experiences give him the opportunity and responsibility to improve the lives of others as a fiduciary providing holistic financial planning.
In his volunteer time, Nico serves as a mentor and Cancer Survivorship Committee member of the St. John's Hospital, John Wayne Cancer Institute and teaches gardening classes to community members as a University of California certified Master Gardener.
